Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare to eat a peach?
I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach.
I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.

I do not think that they will sing to me.
I have seen them riding seaward on the waves
Combing the white hair of the waves blown back
When the wind blows the water white and black.

We have lingered in the chambers of the sea
By sea-girls wreathed with seaweed red and brown
Till human voices wake us, and we drown.

- The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, by T.S Elliot.

Recently, I've been blasting this song on my mp3, for various reasons really which I shall hesitate to disclose on a public space. From the very start, the song's dance beats fitting in neatly with the alternative guitar managed to capture me, but like all songs, it makes way for the new beats that invade the radiowaves after a period of time.

However, since the current radiowaves are sorely missing out on some good music, I decided to revisit some of my old favourites, Supermassive Black Hole being one of them. Certain sounds of music have a way of moving me from beyond the audio to the visual as the beats and melody form images in my mind, images that eventually manifest themselves physically. This song just happened to be one of them:

I came home from CGM and started watching their video on Youtube. Several times, actually, because the first watch baffled me. At first impression, it looked very surrealistic, like someone was trying to recreate some eccentric dream. Upon further research, apparently it was..

"The single's accompanying music video shows the band playing in a small furniture shop, clad in masks. This is intercut with images of dancers in Zentai suits which are then unzipped at the end to reveal beings made of space. The video was directed by Floria Sigismondi, who is also known for directing videos for such alternative bands as Marilyn Manson, The White Stripes, Interpol, Incubus and The Cure. The concept for the video has been stated by Sigismondi as a replication of a recurring dream she has experienced, in which dancers wearing masks of their own faces or mirrors and full body suits fill a dark mirrored room. There are also flashes of a black circle, which is symbolic of supermassive black holes themselves."

But I have to admit, certain elements of the video intrigue me. Many a times, mirrors, spaces, reflections, are played upon. What captures me the most was when the various band members clothed in black garb and mirrors covering their faces are shown. The idea of 'the hidden' and the world beyond the mirror, the potential 'space' that lurks behind a mere reflection, just blows me away. It's as poignant as another scene, when the figures in printed bodysuits unzip themselves to reveal the infinite-ness of space.

Ahh. But moving along. My angel/mortal for CG is -----. I'm stumped. And pondering certain things, wondering if there's a reason. I've been having rage spirals the past few days. Sometimes I feel like I've lost control, somehow I can't bring the God factor in.

The last few days have been interesting though. Wednesday was spent at JP, the new wing is opened and wowee, can a person can lost there! But it's a great new shopping experience, I feel.

Thursday, an impromptu message from Danniele got me out of my lazy stupor and I headed down to the LV boutique at Ngee Ann City. GAHH the feel of luxury goods! I now wholly understand why people pay so much for a branded bag or for a wallet. Oh, and I bumped into Cheryl thrice that night, it's fate I tell you! (or a niggling from, well...) Anyhoo, we journeyed to Clarke Quay after, to Winegarage where Danniele's bf works and had interesting food. I can't even spell the food we ate. If you know me well enough, you'd know that rich food turns my tummy inside out. And boy did I have a tummy ache after the dessert. But two thumbs up for the service and the food!

And certain things... I need to let it go...
